How safe is your blog?
Over the past few days, something has occurred to me. I am sure at some point we have all though what I’m about to say next.
For this Thought Thursday I would like you to take a second to consider or maybe share your thoughts on how safe you think your blog is!
Everyone has a different level of skill when it comes to online security and understanding what’s really behind the web page. We all do our best to keep our blog safe.
I mean we can use really strong randomly generated passwords that we have to write down on paper so we can remember, we can switch that password as frequently as possible to also help.
I mean if you’re a WordPress user then JetPack seems to keep everyone’s blog safe.
Do you use a trusted plugin, like WordFence? Or possibly a third-party plugin to provide protection? Have you ever thought they could be the way in for a hacker? This seemingly harmless plugin that should keep you safe yet doesn’t.
Maybe you are super smart and always back up your blog once a day to your computer. What happens if that computer fails? Does your backup have a backup?
Perhaps’s you have gone above everything and have your entire blog backed up on another server or even a different host. If you’re a small time blog, that could be expensive.
“Argh! What to do?”
I personally have been curious about this because I did some research on google after I had 806 attacks appear overnight and almost crapped my pants!
It was just like that. No crap in the pants although It got me thinking how safe is all of our blogs. Do you let that climbing number of attacks bother you?
Google says to ignore it because it’s not really someone trying to steal or hack you, and it’s all very complicated. I mean did you know you have the IP address of anyone ever that has been to your blog? Did you know about blacklisting IP addresses?
Clearly, …I’m being hacked!
A lot of work goes into a blog, although if it’s always backed up and everything above is done. A person should hopefully be alright. I personally always do as much as possible because our blogs are our babies.
Not our real babies although information can get out of control really fast, and we have to do the best to protect ourselves!
